Sending Limits And Sender Levels

Every Forge workspace shares its outbound mail servers with other customers. These rules keep that shared reputation healthy so everyone’s email keeps reaching inboxes. They apply to the whole workspace, across all of its projects.

Plan Emails per billing period Email domains Sender addresses
Free Not included 0 0
Starter 3,000 1 10
Pro 25,000 10 100
Business 100,000 50 500
Agency 200,000 250 2,500
Enterprise Custom Custom Custom

Revoked sender addresses do not count. A request that would go over an allowance is refused with 402 and a code of BILLING_MONTHLY_EMAIL_LIMIT, BILLING_EMAIL_DOMAIN_LIMIT or BILLING_EMAIL_IDENTITY_LIMIT.

Each workspace has a sender level, shown on the project’s Email page. Sending requires a plan that includes email and a verified payment method, even in the sandbox. Free cannot send email; a trial without a verified payment method cannot send either.

Level How you reach it What you can send
Sandbox Every new workspace starts here. Only to members of your workspace, up to 50 emails a day.
Verified Automatically, once your plan includes email, a verified payment method is on file, a sending domain is verified, you have told us what you will send, and your website is on a verified sending domain. Anyone, up to 500 emails a day.
Trusted Automatically, after 30 days at Verified with at least 100 emails sent in the last 30 days, a bounce rate under 5% and a spam complaint rate under 0.1%. Your plan’s allowance only.
High volume Granted by Forge after review. Your plan’s allowance only.

Daily limits reset at midnight UTC. A Trusted workspace whose bounce or complaint rate rises above those limits returns to Verified. A level set by Forge staff is not changed automatically.

When a send is refused by your sender level, the API returns 403 with EMAIL_SENDER_SANDBOX_RECIPIENT, or 429 with EMAIL_SENDER_DAILY_LIMIT.

Forge pauses all email from a workspace when its traffic starts to put the shared servers at risk:

  • Bounces: 5% or more of at least 50 emails in the last 24 hours bounced.
  • Spam complaints: at least 2 complaints, and 0.3% or more of emails in the last 7 days.
  • Sudden volume: at least 200 emails in the last hour and more than 10 times your usual hourly volume. High-volume senders are exempt.

A complaint rate of 0.1% or more shows a warning on the Email page before any pause.

While paused, every send returns 403 with EMAIL_SENDER_SUSPENDED. Workspace owners and administrators are notified in Forge and by email. Clean your recipient list, then contact Forge support: a pause is lifted only after review.

Prepaid email lets a workspace keep sending after its plan’s monthly allowance runs out. It is used only once the allowance is spent, oldest-expiring first, and each purchase lasts 365 days.

Pack Nigeria Everywhere else
10,000 emails ₦1,925 $5
50,000 emails ₦9,625 $25
250,000 emails ₦48,125 $125

That is ₦192.50 or $0.50 per 1,000 emails. Prepaid email is counted when a message is accepted for sending, so a later bounce does not return it. Your balance and its next expiry appear on the Email page.

Workspace owners and billing managers buy packs from the project’s Email page. Payment happens on Paystack’s secure checkout page; Forge never receives your card number.

  • The price and currency follow your workspace’s saved billing country. Save one under workspace billing settings first.
  • The card you pay with should be issued in that country. If it is not, the purchase is held for a short manual check before the emails are added, and it may be refunded instead.
  • If a pack is refunded or disputed, the unused prepaid emails from it are removed.
  • Send only transactional email that recipients expect: sign-in codes, receipts, account and product notifications. Marketing campaigns and purchased lists are not allowed.
  • Remove addresses that bounce. Forge stops sending to an address after a permanent failure or complaint.
  • Ramp up new sending gradually rather than in a single large burst.
